Bellandi X Centro Pecci

News | March 5, 2024

For the first edition of “Centro Pecci Commissione”, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Centro Pecci and director Stefano Collicelli Cagol, who invited artist Adelaide Cioni to create several art pieces with Bellandi fabrics. Indeed, the artist’s works are characterized by drawing,  painting, and performance starting from the use of fabrics.

For this project, Cioni visited our company to have a look at our archive as well as at all the processes of textile production. To give her complete freedom, for some pieces we created custom colors specifically for her, while for others, she selected fabrics from our warehouse.

For the occasion, Cioni realized the work “Il mondo, 2023”, which covers the perimeter walls of Centro Pecci’s “Ala Nio” room and is inspired by abstract and natural elements. Being present since ancient times in the decorations of populations of different parts of the world, these symbols underline Cioni’s research through the ages and geographies. The lower walls of the room host smaller canvases, with white backgrounds invaded by motifs drawn from the repertoire of natural forms used by the artist, such as leaves, sea waves, and body parts.

In her works, we can see the different textures of our fabrics combined to create different shapes, allowing a unique experience for visitors who see the art pieces in person.

For Centro Pecci, Adelaide Cioni has also created, with our fabrics,  the work “La grande mano, 2023”, which will welcome visitors at the entrance of the museum. Cioni chose the iconography of the tapered fingers of a hand to emphasize the key role that manual skills continue to have today. In everyday life, in work, in sacred ceremonies, in play, and in eroticism, the hand is the part of the body responsible for establishing connections with what is different from us.

In November 2023 the exhibition was inaugurated with a talk hosting artist Adelaide Cioni, director Stefano Collicelli Cagol, and Chiara Bellandi with Alessandro Barni from Bellandi, giving an insight into how Bellandi fabrics have inspired and helped Adelaide to create her artworks.

Don’t forget to stop by and discover the artworks in person!
