Perimetro

News | April 12, 2024

Last year, we started the renovation of our outdoor spaces through “Perimetro”, a revitalization project aimed at transforming the external areas of Bellandi’s headquarters in Montemurlo (Italy), into a socially and environmentally sustainable space. After more than one year, the renovation was finally completed in April 2024. The project begins with viewing the industrial site as an integral component of the urban environment, rather than just a standalone parcel of land for development. It envisions the site as part of a larger, interconnected system within the city, emphasizing its role in contributing to the overall well-being of the community.

Through the creation of a green perimeter and the implementation of nature-based solutions, the project aims to not only enhance the site’s sustainability but also foster a harmonious relationship between industry and the surrounding environment.By doubling permeable surfaces and green areas and integrating nature-based solutions, such as porous paving and increased tree planting, the project not only creates a pleasant environment for work and leisure but also significantly improves water infiltration and contributes to the environmental well-being of the surroundings. The emphasis on incorporating nature into the business infrastructure aligns with sustainable practices, ultimately creating a more eco-friendly workspace.

The strategic allocation of parkings, green areas, and communal spaces in the Perimetro project, brought new functionality to the external areas of Bellandi’s headquarters. The integration of porous paving not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also significantly improves water infiltration, shifting from 5% to 20% of the overall plot. Additionally, the creation of a paved public square near the office building ensures a well-defined and accessible entry point to the factory, enhancing both practicality and visual coherence in the design.

During the renovation of the outdoor spaces, we planted a total of 62 new trees of 10-15 different species, creating an enjoyable, sustainable environment where all of our employees can spend their time: from lunch time, to meetings, to coffe breaks.
